There left behind would be empty or inadequately filled positions that are very important because the cut-off criteria for the party candidate is high. Wouldn’t this migration of people in the job, especially the experienced and promising for the job, to the party lead to brain drain? What effect would this welcome?

If other party is equally or more capable than DPT, what was said can be justifiable, but if not, to give chance to inferior one would really put our Bhutanese Democracy at stake because it is yet to get established firmly.

This is a new argument, yet to pick up. As we see democracy through after every five years, at least over new 40 MPs will be seen as well as more then five new ministers will be out in the public while some may retake the ministerial post if the same party wins. if the party losses 47 MPs will be out as well as 10 ministers and how may orange kabneys and blue kabneys do we see in a small population. going by this Bhutan at some point will be full of dashos all wearing all sort of colored kabneys.
At the same time, Dzongdas, Dzongrabs, Drangpons and Drangrabs, share the same issue. In my view as some also share the same, only red scarf awarded by the king shall be allowed to wear and retain else…. the positional scarfs i think should be folded when one is out of that position…..? What do you think….?

There are now 29 registered civil society organisations in Bhutan and numerous others in the community. How effective have the CSOs been? While we been complementing the work of the government so far, how else may CSOs serve an evolving democracy like Bhutan?

( CSO rules currently define CSOs as “service” providers in a social welfare context. The Anti-Corruption Commission of Bhutan recently described the possibility of CSOs taking on a watchdog role in society , holding government accountable. What are Bhutanese views on civil society and how may we strengthen civil society space in a new democracy?

It seems that our students in town areas are very lucky to be surrounded by all kinds of media especially the ever growing internet but same cannot be said about our other group of students at the other end of the road. They are limited to the daily newspaper Kuensel that the school seldom supplies for their need and the only bhutanese channel BBS for some few who have Television at their house. Media literacy as a club in such school can bridge that gap for those kids by updating them about the current affairs and news up close. CHEERS!!!!!!!
